The 8th Iwata Cup was held at the Etobicoke Olympium, Toronto, Canada. The event was organised by its founder Sam Moledzki Sensei 7th dan - WSKF.
The event was named after Murayama Senseis own teacher Manzo Iwata Sensei who passed away on 4th June 1993.
Since its inaugeration the Iwata Cup has grown to be one of the major dates in the Canadian tournament calendar and regularly attracts students and high level competitors from all over Canada, the US and Europe.
Murayama Sensei attends the Iwata Cup every year as guest of honour and shares his great knowledge during his seminars. This year Mr Phillip Hevener, a long time student of the ninjutsu arts travelled from Philadelphia to take part in the seminar on Nanban Sattoryu Kenpo.
Mr Hevener has recently had published a book on Fujita Seiko who imparted his knowledge of Nanban Sattoryu Kenpo to Manzo Iwata Sensei who, in turn passed the techniques onto Murayama Sensei.
Our sincere congratulations go to Moledzki Sensei on the success of the 8th Iwata Cup. The photos below have been taken from personal archives and from www.shitoryu.org.
